Mosley to the Broncos. #KRM

Our real-life Vegas-based gambling degenerate returns wearing an Elway wig and Elway’s horseshoe up his you-know-what since it appears that Broncos have the top-rated player at a position of need available to them at #31.  Take it away Pete…

Everyone who reads this knows what the Broncos intend to do this year to get the Lombardi Trophy.  They need to take a page out of Vince Lombardi’s legacy and win the individual battles.

Man vs. man.  They need to dominate their opponent physically, especially on defense.

Peyton has seen his title shot go up in flames twice in “the big game (I’m not calling it the Super Bowl here just like the casinos don’t, so that Jim doesn’t get sued by the NFL.)”1 by superior physically dominant defenses.

If I’m Elway, this is an absolute dream come true.  In one of the deepest drafts of all time, I get to pick an absolute no doubt starter late in the first because of the glut of WR’s this year.  I get to draft a guy who was coached by an NFL coach and who started thirteen games for Bama as a freshman.  In case anyone forgot, check out this field awareness.

Following up his freshman year he only went on to win this.2 This doesn’t mean that he’s destined to be the next coming, but take a look at the last five ten winners.  Elway only needs him to be good enough to sign a second contract with the Broncos; that should happen in this case.

How is this for physical play last year in a game many thought would give the Tide trouble?3

This one does trouble me,

but is this any worse than the guy drafted at #44 in our mock did this year?  At least CJ was on the field and appeared properly conditioned.

There are questions to be asked with this pick but since Elway is who he is, he will get away with drafting guy who was the second best linebacker coming into 2013 no matter what/how he did last year (slight underachievement).  I attribute his performance vs. Auburn as more of a “They won EVERY game he played up to this point.”  What 24 straight?

CJ Mosley is the real deal and Elway may trade with Carolina to get him.

Thanks Pete.

Dave Kolonich is now on the clock for the Seahawks and wait, the pick is in and you will not guess it.

  1. Thanks! [back]
  2. The Butkus Award past winners list is pretty damn dicey.  Te’O, McClain, Curry sammiched in with Kuechly, Miller, Willis. [back]
  3. Well they did give Bama more than they expected and covered the +21? with ease.  Hail State. [back]
  4. Clowney.  Ok, now I’m just jamming in footnotes without discretion. [back]

Will not guess Seahawk pick? that sounds like a challenge that you knew I could not resist.

Let us assume it is not an obvious need or not an obvious name.

    Obvious needs:
DL(DE & DT), DE/OLB combo (lost under-rated Schofield), CB, OG, sorta OT (but they seem okay with what they have), WR

    Obvious names available:
DE: Ford(combo – Carroll loves that), Ealy, Lawrence
    DT: Tuitt, Quarles
CB: Breeland, McGill (guess Jean-Baptiste as Pete loves big CB, but McGill is better)
    OG: Bitonio, G.Jackson, Yankey, Kouandjio
OT: Moses (rest much lower ranked)
WR: Robinson, Matthews, Adams, Moncrief, Archer, Ellington, Benjamin

But, you said we wouldn’t guess it, so I’m going to say he’s throwing us a curve ball and is going to go after a guy that I have highly ranked, is sort of a need for Seattle (or could be if they wanted it to be) but hasn’t been talked about much for this range (especially by Browns fans who don’t have this as a need):

    Austin Seferin-Jenkins, TE, Washington

Honestly, ASJ has similar talent to Amaro, but he had a bad DUI (from all accounts an isolated incident) and it seems the mock community is over-reacting to a stress fracture revealed at the combine (or not, hard to tell without seeing those medical reports).

Either that, or he’s going to just have Seattle go Jimmie Ward and have a wealth of safety ridiculousness (3 safety sets?)?

uh oh, the NFL just announced that Cody Latimer is among the invitees for the draft. perhaps Mr. Kolonich got a tip-off that he’s Snyder’s guy?

      • cold.

kolonich travels his own route which figuratively and literally places him in kentucky.

seems early for Marcus Smith, but okay.

I’m not in any way convinced by the krm that Mosley lasts this long but totally convinced that if he does he’s a no-brainer for the broncs. Very low risk, probable instant production and pretty high ceiling. Seriously doubt money-ball leaves Mosley on the board here.

Completely agree. But, there is always someone who falls on draft day, so the KRM had to properly model it. And, of course, a team run like Denver would be the one to reap the rewards. Sigh.
